Are You Stuck in Your Career? The 3 Reasons That Are Keeping You Bitter, Broke And Unfulfilled
So you’ve been at your current job for a couple of years now, and you’re feeling stuck. You don’t have any new skills to show off, and the one promotion that came up went to someone else. The boss seems happy with your work, but nothing is changing. What’s going on?
The reason you are stuck in the same career is because you have spent too much time trying to figure out what’s best for everybody else. It’s time to focus on what will make YOU happy.
The first step is figuring out who you are talking to, which are your skills, and how can they be used to provide value for others? With this information written down, now it’s time to think about what kind of work environment would suit your personality type? This could be a 9-5 job or owning your own business. Figure out where you want to live, and then find the right people that will help guide you through this process. You’ll never regret following YOUR dreams!
This blog post will explore why this might be happening, how it can happen even if you are doing everything right, and what to do about it so that things get moving again!
But first – a warning. This post is not for everyone, but you need to know if it’s not just because it’s not for you that this isn’t happening…
The critical factor here is self-awareness. If you’re reading this and thinking, “This doesn’t apply to me!” then chances are it doesn’t, so maybe stop reading now. However, if you can see yourself in any of the below, read on…
Here are three possible reasons why things aren’t changing at your job:
1) You don’t have what it takes
You love your work and would do anything to progress in your career here, but the truth is you don’t have the raw abilities needed to get you where you want to go.
2) You don’t want it
Sometimes the reason things haven’t changed is that you don’t want them to. Maybe after trying several different jobs in your career, you realize that this one suits you perfectly and gives you just what you are looking for. If that’s the case, then there is no need to feel stuck! Enjoy what others might see as a menial task, but which provides all of your requirements for happiness…and if someone else comes along who wants something different out of life, let them have it!
3) There is no opportunity given to anyone new at some point, there will be too many people wanting progress and not enough positions available for advancement. This can lead to career stagnation for everyone, regardless of their abilities or desires.
This is the position that most people find themselves in when getting frustrated with being stuck at a job. Here’s what you need to do…
Stop waiting for something to happen – this is not going to work! Even if you have nothing stopping you from moving on, chances are someone else does, and it could be a lot longer before anything changes around here. Don’t wait for anyone else to take action! Stay positive – The best way out of this situation is through positivity.
If you expect things to change, they will as long as you actively look for those opportunities, knowing that they will appear sooner or later. Your mind needs to stay open as well as positive! Be patient – You might need to be more patient than you realize. When you first started looking for that promotion, things could have been quite hopeful, and then as time went on, it seemed less and less likely to happen. As soon as your head starts going negative and you start doubting yourself, the harder it will be. Stay positive and keep focused!
You want this, so do whatever it takes to ensure that things change around you…even if, at times, all you can do is hope something turns up eventually! Good luck!
