I Took A Break I Didn't Knew About

Well, hello there, my dear chums! ‘Tis been a while, has it not? You might have noticed my prolonged absence from this humble blog of mine. But fear not, for I have a jolly good explanation to give.

You see, I inadvertently took a hiatus.

Allow me to elucidate. A few moons ago, I found myself in quite the pickle. My plate was overflowing with work, family obligations, social commitments, and hobbies galore. I felt as though I was drowning in an endless sea of responsibilities, leaving me utterly stressed, anxious, and altogether miserable.

I knew I needed a change, but alas, I was at a loss as to how to make it happen. I tried to set boundaries, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities, but to no avail. I was still besieged by an overwhelming deluge of expectations and obligations.

And then, out of the blue, calamity struck! My trusty laptop, a relic from a bygone era, finally bit the dust. No matter what I tried, it refused to turn on. After a visit to the repair shop, I was told that it was beyond repair, and I needed to purchase a new one.

Now, you might be thinking that this was a catastrophe for me, given that my laptop is indispensable for both work and this blog. But lo and behold, it turned out to be a godsend!

Without my trusty laptop, I suddenly realized how much time and energy I had been expending on activities that didn’t truly matter to me.

I was unable to incessantly check my emails, endlessly scroll through social media, or binge-watch Netflix until the wee hours. I couldn’t work on my various projects, write blog posts, or edit photos. I couldn’t do any of the activities that I believed were so vital and pressing.

And yet, surprisingly enough, the world didn’t end. Nothing catastrophic transpired. In fact, not much changed at all. Except for me.

I began to realize how much free time I actually had, and how many things I could do with it. Activities that brought me immense joy and fulfilment. Pursuits that I had been neglecting or postponing for far too long.

I started to read more books, listen to more music, and play more games. I began to cook delectable meals, exercise more frequently, and slumber more soundly. I reconnected with my fellow humans, engaged in delightful conversations, and shared many a hearty laugh. I took pleasure in the simple things in life, such as watching the sunset or strolling in the park or petting a pup.

I felt more at ease, more relaxed, more content. I felt more like myself.

I realized that, without even realizing it, I had taken a break from all that was weighing me down and causing me stress. And it was, without a doubt, the best thing that ever happened to me.

Of course, I eventually purchased a new laptop, resumed my work, and continued with my online activities. But when I did, it was with a new attitude and mindset. I did so with a greater sense of balance and moderation. I did so with increased mindfulness and gratitude.

I learned that sometimes, taking a break isn’t something you plan or schedule or announce.

Sometimes, taking a break is something that simply happens to you.

Sometimes, taking a break is something that you don’t even know you need until you’re in the midst of it.

And sometimes, taking a break is the greatest gift you can give to yourself.
