If You're 35, Here Are 35 Things to be Grateful for
As you turn 35, I wanted to tell you that you’re as good-looking as you were in your twenties — except a lot smarter!
35 things to be grateful for. That’s a lot, isn’t it? If you’re thirty-five or older, chances are good that you’ve experienced quite a bit in your life so far – good and bad. But no matter what has happened, there’s always something to be grateful for. Here are just a few of the many things I’m grateful for at this stage in my life…
1 You know you have seen thirty five seasons of life and you are still in the game. You’ve made it this far, and everything is pretty much fine.
2 You can remember when 35 was OLD but that was Yesterday. Realizing how much Older is Better and how your life is changing faster than it used to.
3 That your body takes care of itself most of the time – you can go on long walks really not thinking about how to breathe or whether your heart will burst out of your chest if someone startles you from behind.
4 Looking back, you are proud of the person you have become.
5 Happy with yourself and what you have done with your life! Hoping to make a difference in the world still.
6 You know the difference between what YOU want and What You NEED.
7 Delighted that you don’t need anyone else to complete yourself.
8 That age does not define who you are or what you can or will become.
9 You have a few gray hairs but a lot of good friends who are still your age!
10 Still trying to figure out who you are at this stage in life.
11 Knowing that the only answer for that is patience and experience.
12 Thinking you may know more than when you were 25.
13 You would like to live life over again and still make mistakes.
14 The only mistakes you are making now are ones you can fix.
15 That what is right now was not always easy to see.
16 Accepting that everyone has faults and flaws.
17 Loving the fact that you are in control of your destiny and still accepting you don’t know so many things.
18 Knowing what you have is worth fighting for.
19 Planning on growing old, but not yet! You still have a lot to do before retiring.
20 Planning the next adventure in life, maybe another career? or a new house?
21 Willing to admit that you don’t know it all.
22 Living with the peace of mind of knowing you gave it your best shot.
23 That family is more important than money.
24 That you know how to read, which means that sometimes you’re the only one who can figure out what’s wrong with your car or tell someone what page they are on in your book.
25 That caffeine makes you a more pleasant person to be around, although make sure you drink it only in the morning and not too late in the day because you’ll need to go to bed at some point.
26 Knowing that you still have time to make memories.
27 That life does not stop at 50 or 60 or 70 or 80!!!
30 No matter how far away you get, there is no place like home. And that is good news!
31 That you have a working knowledge of how to make or buy things that you need – this was either passed on to you by someone, learned out of necessity via trial-and-error, or self-taught.
32 The other people waiting at the bus stop are not your enemies.
33 That you can comfortably travel by yourself, which means that when friends or family come to town, you are the one who gets to see the things they recommend without having to fight over who gets the back seat in the rental car.
34 There are things in the world that will never change, and it’s okay for them not to change.
35 Thinking about what else you can do to make a difference in this world as your 35th year starts.
Turning 35 is a time to reflect on all the wonderful things that have happened in life so far. It’s also a reminder to be grateful for each day and all the amazing opportunities that come our way. Here’s to hoping that the next 35 years are just as good, if not better! What are you most grateful for?
