What Is Your Weekend Routine? (Hint: It Tells You A Lot About You!)
If you had to describe your weekend routine, what would it be? What are the things that make up your typical Saturday or Sunday morning? Your after-dinner activities of choice? The time spent with family and friends on a good day before bedtime? Chances are, you have some kind of pattern for these days. Maybe it’s snuggling up on the couch for hours with Netflix before dinner. Or maybe it’s hitting the coffee shop in town to get work done while catching up with friends over iced tea. Whatever your habits may be, they give insight into who you are as a person. Let’s take a closer look at just how much our routines reveal about us!
The “Habit Pattern” method of analysis is a widespread psychological tool, especially in dream interpretation. The idea is that your behavioral patterns are tied to how you feel about yourself and others. If you’re easily able to translate them into dreams and remember these dreams, then it makes sense that anyone can pick up on what they mean just by looking at your daily routine!
As we said above, we don’t need our unique dream dictionary or even a massive pile of psychology books to know what’s going on with someone when we look at his habits. All we need to do is observe him enough throughout his day to understand what he does every step along the way. When you think about all the different activities in which you participate each day, it becomes easy to spot the patterns in your habits.
Here are some of the most common ones:
The Social Butterfly
This individual does something with his friends every night (hello, sleepovers)! He loves making people laugh and is always surrounded by a good group of pals. If he has time even during his busy schedule, then there’s no doubt that he’ll be at the park playing Frisbee with everyone. He can often concentrate on an activity for hours but also needs breaks periodically not to burn out!
The Workaholic
Whether this person takes pride in his work or feels stressed about having too much to do, she won’t stop until it’s all finished. She might come across as a perfectionist, but she probably prefers the phrase “work in progress” when discussing plans and goals for herself.
The Procrastinator
This individual puts things off until later doesn’t mean he lacks direction or motivation. He may be able to juggle several different tasks at once! While most of us are probably a little bit guilty of putting things off from time to time, the true procrastinator is someone who works on one thing today while leaving something else entirely unfinished from yesterday or even last week. Weekends won’t necessarily bring him relief from his stress since he’ll likely add another few projects to his list…or maybe watch Netflix all weekend!
The Planner
There’s nothing wrong with having a lot on your plate. It’s good to be busy! But this person may have just slightly too much going on. He should take some time to enjoy things while they’re happening instead of always being in the present tense because if he spends all his time organizing his life, then where’s the fun in it? Even though he knows how to get things done efficiently, he also needs to understand that time slows down sometimes, and even good organizers need a break once in a while.
The Socialiser
This is probably someone who talks about her plans for the upcoming weekend every Monday morning at work…in detail! She makes sure there are plenty of exciting activities throughout her week, so she never has an excuse to be bored. While she may feel great about herself and what she’s doing (and why shouldn’t she?), her family and friends might get a little annoyed that they always have to come second. Although this individual has many close relationships, sometimes it feels like everything is more or less on the back burner while people wait for her attention.
These are just a few examples of everyday routines and how they can be interpreted in personality traits. There are plenty more types of people out there since the possibilities are endless!
It’s also worth noting that you can change your habits at any time simply by changing your daily routine.
