Why Do Some Succeed When So Many Others Don't ?

When you are not practicing, remember, someone somewhere is practicing, and when you meet him he will win- Ed Macauley

I’ve always been fascinated by success. Why do some people achieve it, while others don’t? What is it that sets the successful ones apart? I’ve read countless books and articles on the topic, and I still don’t have a definitive answer. But I have learned a lot over the years, and I wanted to share some of my insights with you. When it comes to success, there are a lot of factors that come into play. Talent, luck, and hard work are just a few of the things that can contribute to someone’s success. But what makes the difference between someone who succeeds and someone who doesn’t? In my opinion, mindset is everything. Those who succeed view failure as a learning experience, while those who don’t give up easily and are relentless in their pursuit of their goals are more likely to be successful. So how do we change our mindset if we’re not already successful? It takes practice and lots of perseverance, but eventually it becomes second nature. And once you’ve adopt the right mindset, anything is possible.

In this post, I’ll discuss ten key factors that contribute to success. Keep in mind that these are not absolutes – there are no guarantees in life. But if you want to increase your chances of achieving success, then you should definitely pay attention to these ten things.

Success is more than just luck. While there are no guarantees in life, the odds of success can be improved by making simple changes in your attitudes and habits. Here are ten ways that successful people approach life:

1. They remember that actions speak louder than words. Successful people know that what they do every day matters more than what they say they’re going to do someday. This doesn’t mean you should become a sloppy, careless person who says one thing and makes another (a habit which will quickly cause you to lose respect), but it does mean that real success is built on taking positive action in the direction of your goals. Don’t just tell people you want to be a millionaire someday; actually, start saving and investing now. It may take years before the results of these actions show up on your doorstep as a million-dollar check, but if you keep working hard and taking action, success will find you.

2. They believe that obstacles are temporary setbacks that can be overcome. Many people tend to be harmful because they have developed bad mental habits over the years (which is also one reason why some people stick with a job or a relationship even when it makes them miserable). Successful individuals understand that while there will always be problems in life, not all problems can be solved; simply surviving from day-to-day life often requires simply keeping the worst problems at bay as much as possible. Successful people do not wallow in self-pity; they accept their struggles, take responsibility for the pain and obstacles in their lives, and then focus on overcoming those problems one step at a time.

3. They understand the value of learning from other people’s experiences and mistakes (without dwelling too much on them). While we must examine our attitudes, habits, and experiences for valuable insight, success can be found by learning what has worked (and, more importantly, NOT worked) for others. You can learn to save money by watching other people make financial mistakes; you can learn to be a better communicator by observing how different people communicate; you can learn to build your business by looking at what has or hasn’t worked for others who have already done successful companies.

4. They prioritize their health because they know that they are only as strong as the body they have worked to build. This isn’t about being vain or superficial; it is simply a matter of understanding that your body is the most important “tool” you have in life. If you aren’t healthy enough to work, enjoy your relationships with other people, stay productive at your job, or do simple tasks around the house independently – then no level of success will bring you happiness or peace. Developing good health habits early on in life increases the odds of enjoying long-term health and wellness in the future.

5. One of the primary reasons so many people fail is that they believe it is either their own achievement or total failure in life (this mentality also tends to contribute to feelings of depression and self-pity). Successful people understand that everyone needs a team in business and energy; you cannot reach your true potential by doing everything yourself.  They know that we all need support from others to reach our potential. Success means delegating responsibilities, not forgetting them, learning how to effectively communicate with other people, not shutting down when you disagree with someone.

6. One of the most important qualities that you need to develop if you want to be successful is a refusal to give up when things get tough; optimistic people don’t stop trying because they :face some temporary setbacks – instead, those setbacks fuel their desire to make a change and reach a new level of success. Instead of blaming bad luck or adverse circumstances, they accept responsibility for their actions (or inaction). We absolutely cannot control what life throws at us, but we can control how we choose to react to those events.

7. They understand the importance of celebrating personal victories (while learning from individual defeats). Success requires optimism and persistence, but it also requires a balance between enjoying your achievements today while keeping an eye on what lies ahead tomorrow. While it is good not to dwell too much on past mistakes or failures, it is also essential that you don’t get so caught up in your success that you become complacent. Like a child learning a new skill, celebrate every step towards achieving your goals instead of going straight for the finish line; each small victory brings you closer to reaching the top.

8. They seek out knowledge and understanding from both supporters and critics, but they learn to trust their instincts above all else. All successful people have been criticized for one reason or another, but successful people understand how to move past criticism on their way towards greater levels of achievement. Successful people make it a point not only to surround themselves with supportive friends who encourage them to keep moving forward when times get tough – but they also take time to seek out criticism from others who allow them to see what they might be doing wrong and how best to learn from their mistakes.

9. Successful people know that they cannot achieve everything in life on their own; in fact, most successful entrepreneurs create business models that invite younger innovators and entrepreneurs to join forces and keep working together towards future growth and success. They understand that when you reach an excellent level of success, it is essential to share your knowledge with the next generation of bright young minds. Such an environment makes learning new skills even easier than before.

10. They understand that success is a journey, not a destination. All too often, we make the mistake of thinking about success in terms of some mythical end-point where everything will be perfect and excellent forever after; however, the truth is that business and life requires daily hard work from people who want to stay at the top of their game every day. The best tip for anyone who wants to know how to become successful is this: never stop trying to learn new skills, embrace challenges with an optimistic spirit, celebrate your victories while learning from your defeats, and become comfortable working with other people on future inventions and ideas which benefit everyone involved. If you can do all this while staying true to yourself and making an effort to help others get where you are, success will be yours forever.

Do you want to know the secret? It’s simple, but not easy. The secrets lies in what I call “The 3 P’s of Success” which are Picture, Plan and Persistence. You need a plan that is aligned with your priorities, goals and values. And when things get tough—and they will-you have to be persistent!  I believe that when you’re in the right mindset, it can be easier to stay motivated and keep pushing forward.  You may have seen people who succeeded where others fail or know someone who is an outlier in your industry- why do some succeed while so many others don’t? If this question has been bouncing around in your head too, allow me to offer one possible answer. The key ingredient isn’t talent but rather what lies within each person’s heart and mind; whether they’re focused on the possibility of failure or instead focusing on being flexible in times of facing tough times and making every opportunities count.
